in pictures. playing with shadows.

So Kabir can never get enough of “I want to go outside!” …From playing peek a boo sitting on the bed, now he wants to play hide and seek in the basement. “Let’s go Mamma…let’s go to the basement!”. Hiding behind the same pillar everyday and waiting for me to come get him. Both of us chasing after each other, around it. And he giggling and screaming away in delight. It never gets boring!

And then there is his “mountain”!!! So the back gate of the apartment complex is permanently closed. Leaving the inclined exit from the basement leading to it free and safe for play. That is Kabir’s very own “mountain”! It’s where he races his monster truck and digger! Rolls the security guards stick on, watching it roll down…again and again. And lies on his back with his Mamma staring at the moon and stars. It’s our private little haven.

It’s become a ritual now, after I get back from work. Before or after his dinner, we head out for our walk around the complex. He promptly puts his crocs on, and then starts tugging away at my home slippers to hurry up! Playing hide n seek, running up and down the mountain. And playing with shadows making dinosaurs roar and birds fly!

Can’t thank you enough #mysweetboy for showing me time and again the little joys of life. I love you. ❤

in pictures. weekend shopping.

A fun weekend. At two different malls in the city. The Zara sale being the common factor! Don’t remember the last time I shopped like this. That too with the entire family, including Sapan’s parents!

Kabir always the first one to get ready and then get crazy restless at why are we not leaving! “Mamma…let’s go..I want to go outside!” “Wear your shoes!!” “Let’s go in the car!” Till finally we are ready to be on our way.

Shopping till we literally dropped. Some good food to kick start our engines and then some more shopping! Kabir took a nap in between somewhere too. Which turned out to be a blessing! Leaving us with time to ourselves without chasing after him.

Though a hour or so later, he was up and re-energized for some more driving in the remote control cars. Which he just can’t get enough of….Finally having us pin him down and drag a very unhappy screaming and kicking 2.9 year old.Luckily the screaming sessions don’t last too long as long as he gets his huggieeee…and loads of TLC.

A long, tiring but super fun day later, Kabir promptly still announces after sitting in the car..”I don’t want to go home!!!”

When I tell my mother about this. All she says is “He’s truly your son!” But mom that was then, when you were the mom and me the daughter. Now being the mom, I very much like my time “at home” lying peacefully on my bed, watching tv and eating from a tub of ice-cream!

Oh well! Day 2 was a lot more relaxed. Kabir dressed in his new purchases from Zara! A a nice Italian lunch, soaking in the sun and ofcourse some more chasing after Kabir…

he said. Mamma..you are beautiful.

So I was getting ready for work as usual. Kabir running around all over the house doing his thing. Occasionally coming and banging at the bathroom door..”Mamma..!!!..””Mammmaa!!!” Just making sure I was still there. He has a habit of taking an attendance check on everyone, every once in a while.

And then he comes knocking once more only to find the door’s now open!

So I decided to wear red today. Red Zara dress I bought last year for my birthday. Something about celebrations and special days, always makes me think of red. And well, today was the first day of work in the new year. And it was a Friday!!!

He looks up at me..quiet and then smiles shy and sheepish..

“Mamma…you are beautiful!!!”

My heart just melted and then some more! What can I say…the boys got taste and a great sense of fashion and colour! 🙂

❤ ❤ ❤

No pictures from today. This is the pic I took of the dress in my hotel room in Stockholm more than a year back when I first wore it. Going to treasure it much longer with this special memory now.

A lil note. Happy New Year!!!

A lovely end to an exciting year. I know the feeling that “the year went by too quickly” is something we feel every year, but this year truly…the year just whooooshed past!

A lot happened now that I look back. The highlights!!

1. Sapan and I managed to coincide our work trips together so we could be in London for a few days together. Our first trip out without Kabir. As guilty as we felt, it was wonderful nonetheless!

2. My little brother got married!!! All the fun(and stress) of putting clothes together. Can’t thank you enough Ma!!! Practicing for the choreographed dance numbers. And then dancing some more. Having all close friends and family together. The few days packed with so much action and fun.

3. Kabir’s second birthday at a farm house. Old Mac Donald was a favorite then and still is! Wheel son the bus comes a close second.

4. We went to Shimla together for the first time. A lovely and memorable trip in the hills reliving old childhood memories.

5. Kabir had his mundan done and we bid adieu to his lovely curly locks. Luckily though they decided to stay on…now that the is full again. The soft curls are back 🙂

6. Kabir started going to playschool! Bid adieu to his diapies and became the big boy who wears underwear! 😛 They ofcourse have either cars or smurf or dnos or monsters on them! he hasn’t become that big! Thank God 🙂

7.The annual trip to Sapan’s hometown. This time managed a days trip also to Darjeeling. A short and sweet trip again. Walking in the rain with umbellelllas!! Kabir thoroughly enjoying the horse rides and even more chasing the poor pigeons on the mall!

8.Its so wonderful when work combines with play! A few days off after work in Sweden to see the countryside and a town other than Stockholm with your manger who is now a close friend! Priceless! So much beauty in the world…so much to see. Glad and thankful for all that I have managed.

9. A trip to Goa!!! Finally!!! Only my second time and that too after over 10 years! Don;t know how it became that long….But well, the trip did make up in a lot of ways. Close friends, luxury hotels, seeing Kabir run into the ocean fearlessly, no agendas…

10. Setting up the house. Opening one box at a time. Things slowly falling in place. Our first home together. I think the over pending house warming will finally culminate on Kabir’s 3rd birthday!!! 😛

11. Having both our parents come and visit, (Not together!! :P) the new home for the first time. Kabir getting pampered with love, attention and gifts. And totally loving it!

12. Paris together with Kunal. A place is wonderful on its on, enjoyed in solitude. But with a friend, it becomes magical! Had the most amazing time exploring Paris all over again with him. Added bonus being able to see my sister! The joy of “perfect timing” with a bit of divine intervention.

So as a year end memoir I ordered my first book on Printstagram! A photobook of my favorite pictures from the year that went by. I need to do this more. Its great to have online access to my pix. Saved on the www. somewhere, or my hardisk tucked away in a drawer someplace. But the magic of browsing through a hardbound printed book with friends and family, reliving those memories…nothing can replace that!

To end( and start) the year…here is the customary family selfie. 1st January 2015. In the park, doing what we do, running and chasing after Kabir…And then after a bit, him chasing after us…screaming “huuugggiiieeeee” “Mamma…huuuugggiieiee”! No response..turn to daddy, He always listens!!!:)))
