in pictures. I am a zombieeee….

So this is the third year for Kabir dressing up for Halloween for school. And every year we ask him what he wants to be and then try our best to turn him into that character or object to the best of our ability!!!

The first time round he wanted to be a rocket and he was…the most cutest adorable lil rocket ever! The second year …he was his favourite character ever …The Hulk!!! While the rocket needed some bit of our creativity, hulk was easy with a ready costume from H&M and his favourite hulk hands to …SMASSHH!!!

This year was more special…Kabir decided he wanted to be a zombie! He has this thing for zombies and monsters and ghosts and Dracula… and everything scary and dark! So well…a zombie he became! Woke up super excited to get dressed as a zombie… while daddy took up the task to create his bloody t-shirt, my job was the make up! For which he sat so patiently..only occasionally squirming when I was covering his eyes with Kajol! πŸ˜„ After a good hour or so of hard work with red paint, water colour and a hair dryer, dads master piece of a t-shirt was ready!! Meanwhile I was at it on the make-up! Kajol, my wine red lip-stick, concealer and some white paint did the trick! His reaction when he saw his face was just priceless!!! How happy someone can be to look sooooo scary!!!πŸ˜‚ The last bit was the hair and voila we had a zombie in the house!!! He was totally in character in school too…with the whole walk and talk… “I aaammmmm a zombieeeeeee….” “I’m coming to eaaaaatttt yooouuuuuuuuu….!!!””

To see him so happy was so satisfying! We did rock as parents a one hundred percent as Kabir would say it! 😍😘😘😘

Happy Halloween 2016 y’all!!πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»

in pictures. sunday dress up…

Dressing up on a Sunday morning for a wedding…. made fun! And me gleeful at being able to get Kabir to stay in his blazer long enough! πŸ˜„ After explaining why we are dressing up special and the whole concept of a wedding. “Mamma, one day I’ll be 12 and then 14 andΒ  then 15 and then….when I am big like you…” ” I will get married at my wedding!!!” And I get amused and worried at the same time. Why is that when you are that young, growing up and doing all the grown up things seems like the best thing ever!?! Slow down my handsome young man..slow down…

in pictures.sunday mornings in Cubbon park…Β

It’s been a ritual for a while now…Sunday mornings in Cubbon park. Since the little man was much younger. Sacrificing that little extra sleep on a Sunday to wake up   and get to the park is totally worth the effort! Climbing trees, bruising knees, jumping in puddles, picking up flowers and giving to Mamma, chasing the pigeons, throwing ball to the dogs, sitting on daddy’s shoulders when exhaustion sets in….lovely memories for life!

The last time was when Bella Aunty came visting…😊

a lil note. i will wait for you…

So Kabir recently saw the movie, The Book of Life and has absolutely fallen in love with it. He talks in the most adorable way about the love that Manolo feels for Maria. πŸ™‚ ” Manolo really loves Maria, no Mamma?”

What he took to most were the songs. Humming them to himself at first and then asking me to play it. One song in particular seemed to have caught his fancy….“I will wait for you..” by the band Mumford and Sons. So much so that he wants to hear it all the time. On repeat and he just doesn’t get tired of it.

Last night took the cake though….when he asked me to sing it to him as his new lullaby to sleep! πŸ˜€ I started humming…”No Mamma..no..sing!” At that time its pretty much anything to get him to sleep…so I pull out the lyrics on my phone and start singing…

“I Will Wait”

Well, I came home

Like a stone
And I fell heavy into your arms
These days of dust
Which we’ve known
Will blow away with this new sun

But I’ll kneel down,
Wait for now
And I’ll kneel down,
Know my ground

And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you

So break my step
And relent
Well, you forgave and I won’t forget
Know what we’ve seen
And him with less
Now in some way shake the excess

‘Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you

Now I’ll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
A tethered mind freed from the lies

And I’ll kneel down,
Wait for now
I’ll kneel down,
Know my ground

Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow

‘Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you

I manage to pull through the entire song….but then he goes….”Mamma..again!” “The song is over Kabir…” “No Mamma…sing!” One of those moments when I want to laugh so hard, I cry! But its lights off time and no acts which may get him all active again are allowed! So I just sing the chorus a couple of times more before he finally drifts off…
And I will wait for  you…

in pictures. last day before summer break.

Kabir’s school found a wonderful way to teach the kids about the different states of India. And how everyone is equal, even though they have different names, languages and appearance. A lovely song talking about different people from different states. So Kabir was Benjamin from Panjim, spoke Konakani….but he’s just like you! It was adorable watching all the kids dressed up in different costumes of India and singing their bits.

To dress as a Goan, I put Kabir in a tank from H&M, checkered shorts also from H&M and a palm print shirt from Zara kids. And he had his sun glasses, straw hat and guitar to complete the look. Cutest looking Goan boy you’ll see around πŸ˜‰

Wonderful show by all the kids, followed by a lil snack party. And it’s time to say hello summer break!β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ

in pictures. day out in Delhi.

Sitting in my hotel room in Stockholm after work, I’m browsing through my camera roll and I start reminiscing over this wonderful day in Delhi a few weeks back!

Starting with a movie together with the entire family. Well almost…missed you on this trip to Delhi, so much Ginni! First time for Kabir for a Bollywood movie too- Kapoor & Sons. Even though it was a lil depressing. Was a great movie about a dysfunctional Indian family, sibling rivalry and love. The society norms and how they affect us. Definitely a must watch!

Followed by a trip to Dilli Haat! One of my favorite places in Delhi, specially when the weather Gods are kind. It’s not a place to hang out when it’s a scorching 42 degrees and plus outside! Crafts and knick-knacks from different states of India to buy and browse through. And then the yummy food from all over India. You are literally spoilt for choice!

Moving on from more handicraft sort of shopping to something more high street! Our next stop was H&MπŸ˜„πŸ€˜πŸ»

And here we gotto see a new side to Kabir. He’s usually not so thrilled about shopping …unless ofcourse we are in a toy store!! But this time round he was all into it…”Mamma, this looks good…and I think I need that too.” Picking up pieces and creating outfits…”See..this looks good together!” And me and Sapan were left staring at each other! What just happened here?!πŸ˜‚ To his credit, he did do a good job of making his ensembles!
