in pictures. A day out to the Science Museum with kids.

We celebrated Kabir’s birthday this year on a Saturday, a day before his actual birthday with a big party for all friends and family! A fun reptile theme for my reptile lover. Will do a post of our DIY birthday party soon!!

On Sunday, his actual birthday, we wanted to celebrate with just us, doing something he’d enjoy. So while looking around for things to do around Bangalore that he’d like (instead of heading out to the mall to play games again), we found the Science Museum near Cubbon Park. While Cubbon Park we frequent at least once a month, the museum was still unexplored.

In the end we finally didn’t make it that day. After a lovely brunch at one of the birthday boys favourite restaurant, Smoke House Grill, we headed back home. Considering we had to be back early to get him to revise for his year end school assessments.

But we did make it a point to go the weekend after.

So after a early lunch at Hard Rock Cafe. Again chosen cos he loves his burger! But frankly we were a little disappointed, the place isn’t quite what it used to be. While the staff was very courteous and playful with both the boys. It seems to be missing it’s old vibe. Would definitely pick Smoke House given a choice between the two, the next time.

Another reason we chose to go to Hard Rock was cos the Science Museum is just a short walk away. That’s something I miss so much here in India. Walking on the road. While in Europe for work or leisure….I walk and walk and I love it! For that matter even Shanghai and Hong Kong. In India, however it’s a luxury. Owing to bad infrastructure. Poorly maintained footpaths and the pollution. But… there are still some places where you can.

And the walk till the Museum was quite pleasant and refreshing.

After a 10-15 minute walk, we reached the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.

The entry ticket is 50 Rupees per person and it is open from 10am-6pm.

The first floor was what Kabir enjoyed the most with fun activities and interactive set-up. The Fun Science section. The lower floor had a special exhibit of the Wright brother’s aeroplane along with the Engine Hall.

Even the little one was entertained by the machines and loved looking at his big brother doing things with them!

We also went for a short 3D movie which you have to pay for separately. While Ranbir got too restless and refused to sit through the show(daddy stepped out with him mid-way) , Kabir really enjoyed the shark and other fish coming right at him!

Some of the favourite things were the whispering circle, magic mirror, the vortex, coloured shadows and more!

All in all a day well spent. And I’d highly recommend a visit. It’s a refreshing change when struggling to find things to do around Bangalore with kids. Just make sure you are carrying enough water and stay hydrated. The building isn’t air conditioned and it can get quite warm, specially now in the summer. Also, we didn’t explore the entire space as the kids were already getting worn out. And we didn’t want to stress unnecessarily. Thought better to leave something for our next visit!

in pictures. a bump and stripes…

Time till here has flown by…quite literally. I’m in my week 29 and so close to my full term…!!! The moving tummy and jabs from this hyper active one now constantly reminding me of what’s to come πŸ™‚ The lil one has been really considerate and not given me too hard a time at all up until now…maybe saving it all for when she’s out?! πŸ˜„ The best part by far has been Kabir and his reactions… He is just so thrilled to be a big brother that he can’t wait! “Is the baby coming tomorrow?!” “No Kabir you have to wait till it’s Christmas time:)” “Can Christmas come soon?!” He is the one talking to his lil baby sister to be all the time! And oh ya..he’s just decided it’s a baby sister coming…his logic being he already has a baby brother!! His now almost 1 year old nephew-Sammy bear! So for his sake I really hope it’s a lil baby girl baking in there! 😍 But then I know he’ll be the best big brother either which way! I mean he already sings to her…talks to her..showers her with kisses ALL the time! I’m sure she’s going to come out loving him the most! ☺️☺️☺️ His and our Christmas present of a lifetime!!!

In pictures. Weekend blues…Β

Precious weekend moments. Early morning movie- Ice Age- Collision Course.Definitely not as great as the previous ones. But entertaining enough. Sid always being my favorite and stealing the show!

Movie was followed by shopping for the entire family- H&M, Steve Madden, (head over for some great discounts on currently!), Zara…we covered it all! πŸ˜€ And then exhausted, spent but happy headed for lunch at SALT… An Indian restaurant at VR Bengaluru. Great food, courteous staff and an option to sit both outside on the terrace and inside.

in pictures. sunday dress up…

Dressing up on a Sunday morning for a wedding…. made fun! And me gleeful at being able to get Kabir to stay in his blazer long enough! πŸ˜„ After explaining why we are dressing up special and the whole concept of a wedding. “Mamma, one day I’ll be 12 and then 14 andΒ  then 15 and then….when I am big like you…” ” I will get married at my wedding!!!” And I get amused and worried at the same time. Why is that when you are that young, growing up and doing all the grown up things seems like the best thing ever!?! Slow down my handsome young man..slow down…

in pictures. last day before summer break.

Kabir’s school found a wonderful way to teach the kids about the different states of India. And how everyone is equal, even though they have different names, languages and appearance. A lovely song talking about different people from different states. So Kabir was Benjamin from Panjim, spoke Konakani….but he’s just like you! It was adorable watching all the kids dressed up in different costumes of India and singing their bits.

To dress as a Goan, I put Kabir in a tank from H&M, checkered shorts also from H&M and a palm print shirt from Zara kids. And he had his sun glasses, straw hat and guitar to complete the look. Cutest looking Goan boy you’ll see around πŸ˜‰

Wonderful show by all the kids, followed by a lil snack party. And it’s time to say hello summer break!β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ

in pictures. day out in Delhi.

Sitting in my hotel room in Stockholm after work, I’m browsing through my camera roll and I start reminiscing over this wonderful day in Delhi a few weeks back!

Starting with a movie together with the entire family. Well almost…missed you on this trip to Delhi, so much Ginni! First time for Kabir for a Bollywood movie too- Kapoor & Sons. Even though it was a lil depressing. Was a great movie about a dysfunctional Indian family, sibling rivalry and love. The society norms and how they affect us. Definitely a must watch!

Followed by a trip to Dilli Haat! One of my favorite places in Delhi, specially when the weather Gods are kind. It’s not a place to hang out when it’s a scorching 42 degrees and plus outside! Crafts and knick-knacks from different states of India to buy and browse through. And then the yummy food from all over India. You are literally spoilt for choice!

Moving on from more handicraft sort of shopping to something more high street! Our next stop was H&MπŸ˜„πŸ€˜πŸ»

And here we gotto see a new side to Kabir. He’s usually not so thrilled about shopping …unless ofcourse we are in a toy store!! But this time round he was all into it…”Mamma, this looks good…and I think I need that too.” Picking up pieces and creating outfits…”See..this looks good together!” And me and Sapan were left staring at each other! What just happened here?!πŸ˜‚ To his credit, he did do a good job of making his ensembles!

in pictures. the lil traveller and his red suitcase.

Kabir and his red Disney suitcase have been on many adventures together already. But this was the first trip on which he truly owned his suitcase…dragging it across the airport, though the airplane aisle….πŸ˜„ I’ve been travelling alone with him since he was 3 months old. Mostly to Delhi and back…and as he’s growing older, air travel with him is getting to be more fun and a lot easier too! πŸ™ˆ

We talk, eat our meals together, he naps a bit, pretend plays with whichever lil toy he’s chosen for the day. And we are there…easy peasy…well almost!

Other than minor hiccups like when we are running late and he decides he’s in no rush at all to get anywhere. And I realise that our boarding gate is a good 10-15 minute walk away. I grab a trolley, dump him inside, push my stroller below, hang his and make him hold my hand bag and then push!!! Finally I see the gate in sight, rush and get him off and he announces…”Mamma you are such a slow coach!!!” Sweating and tired…I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry…πŸ˜‚

Thank you Ginni Maasi, once again for this lovely gift. Here’s to many more adventures together…with the  red suitcase. 😊✈️
